Dearest Investigators,

Did you see through the elaborate ploy afoot in The Case of the Wonderland Garden? Now that the Rodricks brothers can now sleep at night knowing that their father’s fortune, and more importantly, the man himself, are safe and sound, it’s time to announce our next Featured Detective (and one detective who deserves honourable mention).

When detectives first learned of the Rodricks brothers’ case, there were red flags “aplenty”. Many of you were quick to point out that their late father’s death at sea was incredibly suspicious– not only because of the many odd details of his disappearance, including his suddenly missing funds, but also because of the lack of corporeal evidence.

Even if Mr. Rodricks II was truly dead, the story of the “accident” leading up to his death was questionable. Some sleuths considered the possibility that he was betrayed at sea by one of his associates, such as Greeley, or even his devoted butler; however, once news came of the mysterious “Lydia”, other theories began to take shape. Investigators, like Detective Janet M., were onto Miss Parkhurst from the start, yet the nature of her involvement was tough to tell. Had she orchestrated Rodricks’ accident herself, or was she absconding with the tired old man (and his fortune)?

Our newest Featured Detective, Detective Steven B. of Flower Mound, TX, was first to answer this question and unearth all the mysteries buried by the supposedly late Reginald Rodricks II. Detective Steven found all there was to find on Mr. Rodricks II’s strange “map”, all the while noting the golden reason for a change in the Checkmate’s keel density, and the precise status of the missing fortune.

Although Rodricks II fooled most until the end, Detective Steven B. saw ahead of his strategy in ways only a Featured Detective could’ve managed.

Honourable Mention: Detective Hana P. was incredibly quick to perceive what was likely a fantastical bet between Greeley and our missing man!

Congratulations from the Dear Holmes Team to Detective Steven B. — a special reward will soon be on its way to your door!
